\"Vladimir<\/a>MOSCOW (Sputnik)\u00a0\u2014 The\u00a0Eurasian Economic Union (EEU)<\/a>\u00a0is of\u00a0great interest for\u00a0Mongolia, the country\u2019s Ambassador to\u00a0Russia Banzragch Delgermaa said Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you know, the process of\u00a0integration and establishment of\u00a0regional blocs is underway in\u00a0the world, and that is why Mongolia, located between\u00a0such powerful states as\u00a0Russia and China, and without\u00a0access to\u00a0the sea, is glad to\u00a0join some economic blocs and work effectively, In this regard, the Eurasian Economic Union is of\u00a0great interest for\u00a0us,\u201d Delgermaa said in\u00a0the interview to\u00a0Rossiya 24 channel.<\/p>\n

Delgermaa noted that joining the EEU was earlier discussed with\u00a0former Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, who is currently the chairman of\u00a0the Eurasian Economic Commission, the executive body of\u00a0the EEU.<\/p>\n

The Eurasian Economic Union is a Russia-initiated regional political and economic bloc which aims to\u00a0streamline the flow of\u00a0goods and services between\u00a0its members, namely Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.\u00a0Moreover, concerning relations with\u00a0Russia, Mongolian Ambassador to\u00a0Russia Banzragch Delgermaa said on\u00a0Saturday that Mongolia hopes to\u00a0boost trade and economic relations with\u00a0Russia,<\/p>\n

\u201cThe potential of\u00a0trade relations between\u00a0the two countries is very big, earlier we had joint ventures, unfortunately we do not see any investment projects yet. But at\u00a0the\u00a0SCO summit in\u00a0Tashkent<\/a>\u00a0this year a program of\u00a0economic corridor was signed, on\u00a0which we hope. We also hope that the investment environment would improve,\u201d Delgermaa told the Rossiya 24 TV-channel in\u00a0an interview.<\/p>\n

She said that the countries had positive political relations but\u00a0noted that there were misbalances in\u00a0bilateral trade with\u00a0the turnover amounting to $1.2 billion and Russian export to\u00a0Mongolia \u2013 over $1 billion.<\/p>\n

Delgermaa pointed out\u00a0that Russia had always been a good neighbor of\u00a0Mongolia \u2013 especially during\u00a0last 95 years.\u00a0Earlier on\u00a0Saturday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Mongolian counterpart Tsendiyn Munkh-Orgil had exchanged congratulatory messages marking the 95th anniversary of\u00a0establishing diplomatic ties between\u00a0the countries.<\/p>\n

Russia and Mongolia have almost a century-long history of\u00a0friendly relations. Mongolia declared its independence from\u00a0China in\u00a01911 following\u00a0the Xinhai revolution in\u00a0China. In 1921, Russian White warlord Roman von Ungern-Sternberg helped to\u00a0free the Mongolian capital of\u00a0Urga from\u00a0Chinese troops thus protecting the country\u2019s independence. The same year, Mongolia witnessed a revolution that resulted in\u00a0improving relations with\u00a0Soviet Russia. In late 1930s \u2013 early 1940s, the countries joined their efforts resisting expansion of\u00a0the Japanese Empire.<\/p>\n
